Smash FMB began after Hurricane Ian devastated Fort Myers Beach in 2022. As the town rebuilt and welcomed visitors back, “Don’t Pet the Locals” became a way to say: don’t feel sorry for us—support us. The phrase reflects the strength, humor, and independent spirit of Fort Myers Beach. Wear it, represent it, and support the local community.
